Dr. Joyce Carter
Dr. Joyce Carter, Psy.D., LPC, LMHC
Psychologist and Licensed Mental Health Counselor
Let us live our lives to the fullest! I firmly believe that our thoughts, feelings, and circumstances do not define us. Although we may not be able to control our outside world, we can find the place inside of ourselves that holds peace and joy. Having worked with children, teens, adults, and families for over 20-years, I have a Doctorate Degree, specifically focusing on using Positive Psychology and Mindfulness to address past issues, prevent burnout, and reach our highest potential.
As a survivor of childhood trauma and domestic violence, I know how the words and actions of others can lead to our distorted views of ourselves. We have the power to re-create ourselves and learn our true self-worth.
Because mental distress is held throughout the body, I believe it is essential to use therapy methods to help access your senses and physical being. Using cognitive-based therapy and body and sensory-related modalities can help to heal the whole person, body, mind, and spirit.
Individual therapy for children, teens in adults who are experiencing:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Mood swings
- Life transitions
- Post-traumatic stress
- Developmental disabilities
- Symptoms from childhood trauma
- Effects of domestic violence
Dr. Joyce specializes in mental health counseling She does not offer psychological testing.
