More About Me
My approach to counseling is holistic wellness which integrates mindfulness techniques, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), existential therapy, and humanistic therapy. I emphasize the mind/body connection along with identifying and addressing unhealthy patterns and beliefs. My commitment to my clients is to always hold a safe, non-judgmental space where they can explore their difficulties and confront them in an honest way. In my experience healing can only occur when we are honest with ourselves about our challenges and this can take tremendous courage. I believe that assisting clients in their growth and positive life change is one of the highest privileges as a counselor.
I came to this profession because I was fascinated with the human mind and personality. My interest in the psyche and what it means to truly be a healthy human began with reading literature on the human growth potential and holistic health. As I learned that many of our personal limitations are self-imposed I tried to find out more about myself and my own limitations. This lead me on a journey of self-discovery exploring ancient as well as modern philosophies, practicing meditation and dynamic forms of mindfulness, learning about personality traits, and confronting unhealthy beliefs. While working at Deepak Chopra’s Center for Well Being I was exposed to alternative approaches to healing. I also explored the Enneagram personality system and ways to apply it to counseling and personal development. Following that, I decided to incorporate modern psychology and pursue a counseling degree. Accumulating knowledge and skills in order to grow and help others became my mission. My belief is that blending the best of ancient knowledge and innovative approaches is the most effective way to positively change our lives.
A Little Bit About Me
I am a big fan of nature and any kind of adventure, whether it is getting lost in the woods or jumping out of an airplane. I usually drag my wife and daughter into some type of wild trip. One of my favorite things is wilderness survival. I love exploring and traveling to new places. Some of my other passions are martial arts, reading books, eating great food, and taking long meditative walks around St. Pete. I have three cats who remind me to live in the moment and not to take myself too seriously.
Education and Training
I graduated from the University of South Florida with a double Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and History. My graduate studies focused specifically on professional counseling and I earned my Master’s degree from Nova Southeastern University. I am currently a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern in the State of Florida and am an active member of the American Counseling Association (ACA). Over the course of my career, I have worked to help people understand the mind/body connection and the power in using an integrated approach to human growth and development.
