As a therapist I am committed to walking alongside my clients and providing a safe container to transform wounds into healing, wholeness, and wisdom. Rather than just treating symptoms, my approach is to help clients dive deep within themselves and strive toward being better humans overall. I believe my gift lies in my grounding presence and loving gentleness – I have been described as a “gentle warrior.” My therapeutic approach is person-centered and experiential. I am a trained EMDR therapist, a certified yoga teacher, and trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy. I have worked with a wide variety of clients and concerns, but also specifically with trauma in areas such as addiction, suicide prevention, and intimate partner violence. I am also currently enrolled in a training program that
Outside my role as a therapist you can catch me reading, watching movies, exercising, and spending time in nature. I grew up in Miami as a Cuban-American so I often play dominoes (my favorite game of all time) with my friends and family. My father worked on a charter boat when I was growing up so I fished since a young age and absolutely adore the ocean. Yet, my greatest passion is adventure travel! I’ve worked as a musher in Alaska, traveled across Mongolia on horseback, and backpacked through East Africa.
My personal journey in becoming your therapist: As a child (and now) I was gifted with a sensitivity, empathy, and ability to make others feel comfortable and understood. This innate propensity inspired a curiosity of humans, suffering, and the mind/heart from a young age. However, it wasn’t until my own descent into depression at the age of 20 that I decided being a therapist was my calling. Through my own therapeutic work and journey into darkness I solidified my desire to become a therapist and bring the same healing I found to others while integrating my own continued journey of seeking wisdom and spirituality.
From then to now, my path has led me to explore various forms of meditation and contemplation, attend Yoga school in India, journey on Pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela, sit in Lakota sweat lodge, and immerse myself in the philosophies of Buddhism, Hinduism, Stoicism, and Platonism. As a budding clinician, my worldview and therapeutic style have been heavily influenced by Carl Jung, Carl Rogers, and Fritz Perls and integrates modalities such as Internal Family Systems, EMDR, and Emotionally-Focused Therapy. All these experiences and explorations have reinforced my path and shaped me into the person that I am today. My most sincere desire is to walk with my clients as a gentle guide on their journey and bring forth their innate capability to discover strength, meaning, and transcendence within their suffering, as I continue to discover those within myself.
